PLAYERS of all ages, from beginners to champions, swing into action at Willoughby Squash Centre for a good workout and expert coaching.

The centre has 32 teams playing competition squash, including the State's top-graded men's and women's teams.

Australia's dynamic world champion, Michelle Martin, often plays there with the top men's team, to get that extra edge.

Superbly fit, she has won the world championship three times and recently won the British Open title for the fourth time.

Willoughby Squash Centre is open seven days a week and has seven courts.

The air-conditioned centre has coaching clinics, social squash, a gymnasium, aerobics, toning and body-building classes, undercover parking, change rooms, showers and child-minding services.

Equipment is available for sale and hire.

Squash enthusiasts at the centre range in age from about nine years to 71, and about 60 per cent are social players.

Local schoolchildren also play there as part of their sports program.

The centre is run by Ian Aitken and his wife, Judy.

"Squash is fast and exciting, and provides a great workout," said Mr Aitken. "It's an all-weather sport, and with four walls around the court you don't have to chase the ball all over the place to retrieve it."

Willoughby Squash Centre is on the corner of Willoughby Road and Small Street, phone 9958 1399.
